Gabe (a.k.a. Gabriel, Gabie, Gaberuni, and others too cutsie to name) lives in New York with his girlfriend, Margaret (they've been together for quite some time, were high school sweethearts, and plan on marriage "someday"), and his iBook, Castalia (who gets jealous when Gabe spends too much time with Margaret).

When he's not wandering around Central Park (the Turtle Pond and the Ramble are frequent locations), hanging out at coffeehouses (Ziggie's Cafe and DTUT are both fantastic Upper East Side establishments), or reading in bed (Zelazny, Bester, Borges, or Heinlein, maybe), Gabe is probably doing something else, like working (probably tech support, product testing, or programming), sleeping (at least eight hours a day, in a perfect world), or writing (mostly short stories, though he's been known to scribble an occasional poem when a spontaneous outburst of emotion stikes).
